It’s amazing the lure that Provence has for non-residents or distant watchers. I am not undermining its charm and splendours, but some of the notions folk concoct about life in Provence are amazing.
InEvansville, USA, they imagine this: “Wouldn’t it be nice to live somewhere romantic such as Provence or Tuscany, where all you have to do is step out your back door to find tasty wild greens and herbs growing on the hillsides?”
InCanada, it’s this: “The roots of the Roman Empire run deep throughout southern France, no more so than in rural Provence. With its sunny scrublands, Riviera, vineyards, olive trees and Mediterranean cuisine, parts of Provence could pass for northern Italy. But Francophiles will find Provence also offers the best of la belle France — Sunday markets, sleepy towns where locals play petanque, fields of lavender and salade Nicoise.”
Maybe I shall compile a guide book of journalistic expressiveness about Provence.

What most surprises me is that the floor is in such good shape. The apartment building dates from 1953, so the tomettes are 56 years old, and yet only one of t

PARIS (AP) — From behind prison bars, the view never changes. From behind the handlebars of racing bikes, dozens of French inmates are seeing the vineyards of Provence, the sun-drenched Mediterranean coast and the majestic spires of the Alps in their own special Tour de France. The convicts are cycling in the inaugural “Tour de France Penitentiaire” — an event whose goal is not just to physically challenge the prisoners, organizers say, but also to instill self-respect and pride that will help By dears.tumblr.com
Little Africa in ProvenceI report this sale here because i’ve told many times in my comments that i rarely work with the tourism industry. That’s a strange thing : France is one of the most visited country in the world. Provence is probably the second destination for tourists visiting France and tourism is certainly the first source of income in the region where i live. But when it comes to buy a photo, tourism offices are always short of money so they are not the best clients for photographers. At By french-landscapes.blogspot.com
