Provence vineyards and the expat dream

I am always troubled by articles about Provence that read like “the gentle stream of expats settling in Provence has, over the past
decade, become a steady river.” I imagine hordes of Brits descending and eating chips, sorry, frites.

But this interesting piece in theTelegraphis more about folk who’ve bought up vineyards in Provence and actually make quiet decent wine: “So, if you feel an incredible tug for Provence, a heart-achingly

Watering cats and growing pumpkins

Two weeks ago, I removed the glass shower door in my bathroom. The surrounding floor and walls were starting to rot, and I knew the door blocked much of the airflow needed to dry out the rest of the shower properly, so I decided to just take it out myself and put in a shower curtain and rod. While taking out the door, I discovered that the previous owners hadn’t waterproofed any of the seams… which is mainly why things had been rotting. TheGuardianvotes Cours Saleya as the 2nd best in the whole of France.

“On Monday, from morning to mid-afternoon, Nice’s colourful,
sun-drenched cours Saleya (just behind the Promenade des Anglais) is
filled with around 200 flea market vendors selling their wares. This is a
fairly high-quality market; however, bargain hunters can also score a
