Russian Orthodox Cathedral closed to visitors
Tensions are mounting surrounding the closure of the famous Russian cathedral in Nice. The church, which has been closed off to the public since 12th September 2011, is still at the centre of a battle between the Association Culturelle Niçoise (ACOR) and the Russian Federation over whether to hand the monument back to Russia.

New hospital opening date pushed to 2013

Local politicians visited the site yesterday, re-affirming that construction of the country’s largest hospital is well underway, albeit a little late and a lot more expensive than planned.
Last chance to visit the Mont Alban fort
Travelling towards Nice on the Basse Corniche you may have noticed the impressively large building overlooking the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer. This is the Fort de Mont Alban, one of the jewels in the department’s heritage crown, and open to the public for a short time only.
